Setting new standards in hose management

Jun 2011

ContiTech Beattie is setting new standards in hose management and playing its part in the battle for better skills in industry.

The activity to improve skills, not only in the business, but also within the sector, comes as engineering and manufacturing fight back against a frustration in the current skills system.

The company has helped all 15 members of its hose management team to boost their qualifications through a unique course established to fill a gap in the market. The completion of ContiTech Beattie's IVQ (Internal Vocational Qualification) in Hose Management, has strengthened the firm's industry leadership status.

ContiTech Beattie established the IVQ because there was no industry qualification for hose management and hose fitting. Led by a team including Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) accredited trainers and an NVQ assessor, the course ensures high levels of best practice and assesses competency.

Modules include health and safety, effective working relationships, pressure testing, flexible hose assembly, quality control and hose management for offshore workers.
