Offshore Loading and Offloading Systems

ContiTech Beattie Limited, as part of the Fluid Technology Business Unit of Continental Contitech AG has the benefit of knowledge gained over more than forty years in which ContiTech Beattie Limited and sister company Dunlop Oil & Marine Limited have been supplying hoses and offloading systems to the offshore industry.

Experience gained has been incorporated into the design of complete offloading systems to create optimum operating conditions for the most critical part of the system, the offloading hose. Complete offloading systems, designed and engineered by experienced staff, can be supplied for any hose storage method such as floating in the sea, chute or storage reel.

A selection of components that have been supplied as part of an offloading system are; the hose, hose storage system, hawser storage reel and hawser, chain stopper with load monitoring, hydraulic power unit and controls (manual or remote electro/hydraulic), ESD system, pigging system and telemetry links all controlled via control consoles and monitored through a visual display.

An example of ContiTech Beattie's ability to design and manufacture systems to a customer's specific project requirements is the transfer system for the MV Crystal Sea. The package provides a complete operating hydrocarbon link suitable for installation on any rig with only minor rig modifications. The skid assembly is deployed to the rig from the MV Crystal Sea and bolted into position. The transfer hose is then deployed from the MV Crystal Sea to the rig for connection to the skid assembly.

The skid package contains a hydraulic power unit, quick connect-disconnect coupling, pull-in winches, pig launcher, ESD and telemetry. The ESD system can be started locally or via the skid telemetry from the bridge of the MV Crystal Sea. The bi-polar telemetry system also allows remote monitoring and control of skid equipment from the MV Crystal Sea. A totally enclosed hydraulic power unit on the deck of the vessel powers all the vessel-mounted equipment and the instrument and control cubicle allows remote control and monitoring of the system from the bridge.
